| Bio | Graduated Missouri State University 1970; retired as MSU Director or Student Activities in 1990 after 20 years in Student Life & Development; retired again in 2014 after 25+ years in travel & tourism. In the meantime, I was the primary caretaker for my husband during his 28-year-long battle with multiple health problems. Once I moved to Springfield in August 1965, I was hooked on the special- ness of Southern Missouri and the people here. In 1987, after seven years of marriage followed by 14 years building my career as a single professional, I found my true soulmate Dave, and became a second-mother to 5 teenagers, three of whom lived with us (can you say "culture shock"?). Dave and I were graced with 29 loving years together; and although our eldest daughter died of addictions at age 36, the remaining kids and I have a great relationship that has grown stronger with the death of their Dad in April 2017. I'm fortunate that two of the boys live in or around Springfield; another son lives in Florida and our daughter resides close to Talladega. I have nine grandkids but only one great-grandchild so far. My parents continued to live in the same house on Mason until their deaths; and my sister Patti McGuire (VHS '67) lives in Independence. I am looking forward to attending the September Reunion; I've not been able to make plans ahead of time for thirty years. Hope to see a lot of "old" friends. |
