Bio     COOK Richard David "Dick" Cook, age 68, died peacefully with his family at home in Blue Springs, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm Monday, December 21, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, December 22 at the chapel. Born November 23, 1947, in Independence, Missouri, to Hazel and Raymond Cook, he graduated from Van Horn High School in 1965. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America – achieving Eagle Scout – and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. On November 19, 1966, he married Beverly Ann Beugin. Dick and Beverly have been lifelong residents of the Eastern Jackson County area, growing up in Independence and raising a family in Blue Springs, Missouri. Dick was a charter member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and worked at Hallmark Cards, Inc. as a printer and die maker for 36 years, retiring in 2003. Dick lived an incredibly active life, participating in sporting events, traveling, and attending his grandchildren's activities. Family and friends were especially important to him. In his later years, he particularly enjoyed spending time in Branson and snow-birding in Arizona. He was a life-long coach making an impact on young people's lives and offering "help" to his teammates. Dick will be remembered for his big smile, the twinkle in his blue eyes, and his light, ornery sense of humor that brightened people's day. His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beverly; son, Troy Cook and wife Kelly; daughter, Tammy Mandina and husband Billy; grandchildren, Natalie, Nic, Gabrielle, Adrianna, and Elijah; sister, Ann Harris; brother, Ray Cook, and nieces and nephew.
