Bio | John William Tann, 76, of Independence, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2022. John was born to William “Bill” and Lucille Tann on January 2, 1946, in Independence, Missouri.
John is survived by his wife Janice, of the home; 2 sons and one brother, Jim Tann and Wife Lola of Blue Springs. Also many loving nieces and nephews. Brian Tann of Independence (Natalie); grandchildren, Bryce and Bailey; great-grandchildren, Lelan & Elaina. David Moss of Lee’s Summit (Alice); grandchildren, Jack, Evelyn and Norah. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his infant son, Jason and his sister, Mary Hess.
John spent his entire life in Independence. As a young boy he attended Bristol Elementary then graduated from Van Horn High School. John spent the majority of his years working as a Land Surveyor for E.J. Werner & Associates. He was able to retire in 2010. John loved his family fiercely and enjoyed traveling to different states to visit family and to reunite with loved ones. John and Janice’s early dating years were spent with her watching him play pool, a game he grew up with, playing with his Dad and was very good at it. Watching Brian and Dave play sports was a big part of his life. He never missed a game of baseball or basketball. He enjoyed sitting on the Hill at Crysler Stadium in Independence, a place where he made many lifelong friends. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 18th from 2-3pm at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home in Independence with a memorial service beginning at 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of John.
