Bio | CHOLAK JR. Michael E. Cholak Jr., 70, of Sugar Creek, passed away of cancer under loving hospice care June 9, 2017. A private service was held at Carson Speaks Chapel in Independence. A memorial Mass and burial will take place at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sacramento, CA, at a later date. Michael was born Oct. 6, 1946, in Independence, MO, to Michael Edward Sr. and Anna (Toth) Cholak. He graduated from Van Horn H.S. in 1964 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969. Michael retired in 2007 after working 30 years for the Department of Defense in CA and PA. He loved to watch sports (golf being his favorite) and follow politics. He loved to laugh and did it well. Michael is survived by his beloved children, Jamie Zuzanne, Michael Edward III "Mikey", and Scott, all of Sacramento; grandson, Anthony Michael of Sacramento; sisters, Veronica Powell of Sugar Creek, Genevieve Pinter and husband Robert of Sugar Creek, and Patricia Weaver and husband John of Kirtland, OH; brother, Frank Cholak of Sugar Creek; as well as many loving and caring nieces, nephews and cousins.
