| Bio | Gary Lee Koenig, 73, of Independence, died December 3, 2018 at Carmel Hills Rest Home.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1997 but was very active until 2014.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene L. Koenig and Helen N. Reeves, and brother, Eugene L. Koenig Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynnette Wilkins, son, Robert Koenig, daughter, Becky Koenig-Carmack, five grandchildren, and his cousin, Bea Bentley.
Gary joined the Navy in 1962 and was assigned to the USS Forrestal, CVA59 for a two year cruise around the Mediterranean. He worked for the KCMO School District for 26 years until retiring in 2002.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, at Bishop Miege High School, 5041 Reinhardt Drive, Shawnee Mission, KS 66205.
Directions: I-70 West to I-35 South to Mission Road Exit, Follow Mission Road to 47th Street - Turn Right to Reinhardt Drive, Turn Left on Reinhardt Drive and follow to Bishop Miege High School.
