Bio | Michael E. "Mike" Dresser, 57, Independence, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Independence Regional Health Center.
Mr. Dresser was born Feb. 20, 1945, in Kansas City. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, Sunday school director, discipleship training leader, Baptist Men and the choir. He had worked for an appliance store, a chemical company, Rost Chevrolet and the Brass Foundry. He was an Independence Police Officer for 14 years and was Police Officer of the Year in 1969. He was also a sergeant for the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department, had worked in a photo lab and was operations manager of a shopping mall. He was a 1963 graduate of Van Horn High School.
His survivors include his wife of 40 years, Virginia "Ginny" Dresser, of the home; three sons, Jeffrey Alan Dresser (Melissa), Grandview, Steven G. Dresser (Patty), Independence, and Michael Link Dresser (Chana), Blue Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to New Salem Baptist Church. |
