Bio | Robert "Bob" Darby, 67, Liberty, Mo., died peacefully May 29, 2013, at home with family and friends. Bob was born Sept. 30, 1945, in Independence, Mo., and grew up in Sugar Creek, Mo. He graduated from Van Horn H.S. in 1963 and Central Missouri State University in 1967. Bob was a member of the Heavy Construction Laborers' Local 663. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, camping and canoeing. He was always ready to extend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. He interjected his goofy sense of humor when least expected. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane Giese Darby; son, David Darby (and wife, Amanda) of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Stephen Darby of Leysin, Switzerland; two grandchildren; one niece, one nephew and many cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Scott Darby; mother, Lillian Darby and sister, Sharon Brown. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1441 NE Englewood Rd., Kansas City, MO 64118 with reception following.
