He was born in Galveston, Texas on January 15, 1945 to Ross and Lorraine Wyss. He grew up in Independence, Missouri and in 1963 he graduated from Van Horn High School where he met Sheila (Beaman). Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved exploring, hiking, hunting, archery, and fishing. An enthusiastic traveler, he was fortunate to see many parts of the world. A loving and devoted family man, Larry always put his wife and children first. He was known as Grandad to his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to spend time with them. He found so much joy and happiness in teaching them his many skills, taking them on tractor rides, hunting for morel mushrooms in the woods, and fishing at his home lovingly known as Camp Wyss. In Larry's own words, "it's been a great life".
