| Bio | Edward E. Thomas, 69, of Sugar Creek, MO, passed away June 12, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16th from 6-8 pm at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 10:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Ed was born to Gay & Letha Thomas. Ed was a 1963 graduate of Van Horn High School. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Ed was employed at Armco Steel for 35 years and retired in 2000. He belonged to many organizations; Independence Jaycees, Sugar Creek Optimist (President 1992-1993 & Vice President 2006-2007), Sugar Creek Fair Board, Sugar Creek B & C Club, Sugar Creek Eagles, Sugar Creek Alderman 1st Ward (2002-2006), Missouri Municipal League Sugar Creek Citizen of the Year (1990 & 2000), and Optimist of the Year (1999 – 2000). He was a member of the Fairmount Christian Church. Ed’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, Nascar, & skeet & trap shooting. Ed was preceded in death by his mother & father. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Liz of the home, daughter & son-in-law, Angie & Terry Madsen of Cape Girardeau, MO, daughter Julie Thomas of Merriam, KS, 2 granddaughters, Hannah & Hattie Madsen & sister Eva Lee Thomas of Independence, MO.
