Yearbook     Terry Liggett
Status      Deceased - 9/17/2006 Kansas City, MO
Bio     After a courageous fight with cancer, Terry, at the ripe young age of 62, made his last flight at 7:27 A.M. Sunday, September 17, 2006, in the arms of his loving wife Maj-Britt, of 41-years, and surrounded by his children. Terry was a co-pilot and captain for TWA for 33-years, and one of the aircraft he piloted was the Boeing 727. With the air show in town, the one he always took his grandson Garrett to, the Blue Angles made their passes over the house, which seemed to be a great tribute to him. Terry was also a fighter pilot flying the F-100 for the Missouri National Air Guard. Terry was a very enterprising man that built and developed land in the Northland for over 35 years. He started a big development at the Lake of the Ozarks where Terry and Maja spent many years boating and having a good time with friends and family. Terry enjoyed his golfing buddies in the Northland Duffers, and was also a member of Quiet Birdmen and the Elks. His TWA pilot friends had their own Romeo breakfast club and enjoyed Tuesday mornings with them. Terry had a heart for the needy and gave generously to charitable organizations, including Angle Flight in which he donated his time and plane to help the sick get to places they needed for treatment and back home again. Boy Scouts was an avid part of his life, earning his Eagle Scout Award and reaching the rank of Fire Builder in the Tribe of Mic-o-say. He graduated from the University of Missouri and was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Terry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, Maj-Britt, daughter and son-in-law, Heidie & Michael Downey, son and daughter-in-law, Christopher & Christina Liggett, Three grandsons; Garrett & Brandon Downey, Tristyn Liggett, his brother, Ronald, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, lots of Maja's family in Sweden, and close friends. Visitation will be from 5-6:30 P.M. Friday, September 22, 2006, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N. Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119, with a Celebration of Life service at 6:30 P.M. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 11:30 A.M. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite # 100, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. The staff was a blessing to the family. We will deeply miss him.
