WARSAW — William Wayne Berendzen, 73, of Warsaw, died Friday, August 12, 2016, at his home. He was born October 3, 1942, in Eldon, Missouri, a son of Leo Francis and Dean Josephine (Feltrop) Berendzen.
He grew up and attended school in Eldon, MO, until his high school years, when they moved to Independence, MO, and he graduated from Van Horn High School in 1961.
On June 22, 1963, at St. Patrick's Church in Gravois Mills, MO, he was united in marriage to Kathy June Jamerson. This union was blessed with the gift of five children, Michael Wayne, Timothy Shawn, Patrick Joseph, Karla Michelle and Aaron Paul.
He had several careers, including Cook Paint and Varnish in Independence transferring to Cook Paint in Sedalia, Sedalia Decorating, Payless Cashways, but the one he was the proudest of was as a driver for the Center for Human Services, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed the clients and they enjoyed their time with him.
He found great enjoyment in his grandchildren, visiting with people, golfing, attending the Gasconade County fair with his grandkids, and going to Gulf Shores, Alabama in the winter with his wife and friends. He never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Berendzen of the home; a son, Mike Berendzen and Lisa of Jefferson City, MO; a son, Tim Berendzen and Connie of Cole Camp, MO; a son, Pat Berendzen and Kim of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Karla Randall and Keith of Centerview, MO; and a son Aaron Berendzen and Kristy of Eldon, MO. An older brother Paul Berendzen and Linda of Versailles, MO; an older sister, Nancy Marriott of Edwards, MO. Thirteen grandchildren Kayla Hall, Kassy Rader, Kody Berendzen, Morgan Berendzen, Sarah Berendzen, Kayla Foley, Emily Berendzen, Austin Berendzen, Klayton Rukavina, Leah Faulkenberry, Jacob Faulkenberry, Tristen Berendzen, Adalyn Berendzen and three great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Kale and Kenny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dean Berendzen, an older sister Dorthea Berendzen, an infant older brother Marcus Berendzen, and brother-in-law Kenneth Marriott.
A private family burial service was held Monday, August 15, 2016, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Cole Camp, Missouri, with Father Callistus Okoroji officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. and a meal following at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp, Missouri.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery Association (Road Project) or St Jude's in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
