Bio | Harold E. Phelps, Jr., 68, of Independence, Mo., died Tuesday, June 14, 2011. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at VFW Post 3976, 12810 Kentucky Road, Independence, for family and friends. Harold was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Harrisonville, Mo., to Harold E. Phelps Sr. and Lavena Kruse. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1961. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America, The Army National Guard and the US Navy. He loved animals, NASCAR races, researching local history, blues music and good friends. He is survived by longtime companion, Sharon L. Wade, son, Tony (Margie) Norris and much loved granddaughter, Danielle, sisters, Sandy (Bob) Clark, Diane Martin, Karen (Terry) Simpson, and Lisa Phelps, brother, Larry Phelps, and also his extended family, the Wades and Richardsons. He was preceded in death by his much loved and missed dogs, Flash and Bandit. Burial at a later date in Chilhowee Cemetery.
