| Bio | Dennis “Dennie” Lewis, 74, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. He is survived by wife Elaine, mother Elizabeth, children Dana Baker, Dee Ann Lewis, Dennis A. Lewis and wife, Hiliary, and Matthew Lewis; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters, Barbara Collins, Judy Lewis, and Brenda Laney and husband James. Dennie was a life-long resident of the Independence, MO area. He worked on the fire department for 28 1/2 years, and was an established realtor. Always ready with a smile and hug for all, Dennie faced his final illness with the same attitude of resilience and bravery that he displayed in his work as a fireman. He was a faithful church member and his faith was the foundation of his life in loving others and in service. Visitation will be at Speaks Suburban Chapel 2-4 PM Friday, Aug. 11. Memorial service at 4pm at the chapel. Donations may be made to the ALS Association or Good Shepherd Hospice. Dennis was a member of the 1961 class at Van Horn, and sadly lost his couragest battle with ALS, Dennie will be missed by family and many friends, Rest in Peace Dennie, until we meet again. |
