Bio | George Edward Jones, 70, passed away at his home in Fulton, Texas, on Monday, November 5, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan. He grew up in Independence, Mo., graduating from Van Horn High School in 1961. George met Eunice Baranowski from Stoutland, Mo., and they married on Nov. 9, 1963. George had a special love for law enforcement. He served protecting our country in the Army 1966-68, proudly serving a year in Vietnam. He retired in 2000 as a Sergeant for the Jackson County Sheriff Patrol. In addition, George worked for Jones Standard Oil that his father owned in Independence. George enjoyed time with his family, his pets and the many flowers and plants that Eunice grew at their home. George was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Jones; and parents, Ed and Betty Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Bekkah Jones of Fulton; brother, Alan Jones and wife Joyce of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sister, Suzie Hendrickson and husband Ron of Blue Springs, Mo.; along with nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
