Bio     Georgia Lee Hill (nee Charles) of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully in Independence on September 10, 2022. Georgia was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 30th, 1943, to Hazel Charles and Lester Charles. She was the younger sister of Gloria Maupin (nee Charles). She graduated from Van Horn High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. Georgia married George (Chic) Hill in 1962, and together they had three children, daughter Lisa Campbell (nee Hill), and sons Michael and Kevin Hill. Georgia was the quintessential life of the party. She loved to sing and dance. Her lovely voice could be heard in the local church choir, and she won numerous dance contests at “Teen Town”, as a high schooler at Van Horn. Her love of flowers and meticulous gardening made heads turn (hopefully no wrecks) while driving past the family home on 39th Street. Whether it was a hot game of bowling or bunco, Georgia played hard and laughed harder. An immense source of pride and joy came from her grandchildren. Grandsons Tyler and Daren Campbell, granddaughters Kelsi, Kierstin, and Keely Hill, and granddaughter Johanna Hill and grandson Nathan Hill were never far from her warm hugs and her loving attention. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri 64055 on Saturday, September 17, 2020. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel on Saturday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschpael.com. Memorial donations may be made in Georgia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
