Bio     Mervin “Merv” Wren Cary, 80, a resident of Belton, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Carnegie Village Assistant Living in Belton, MO. Merv was born April 11, 1943 to Mervin E. and Helen (Wren) Cary in Kansas City, MO. Merv is a 1961 graduate of Van Horn High School in Independence, MO. Following High School Merv went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Carol Burns on August 28, 1970 in Kansas City, MO. Merv spent a total of 42 years working for Hallmark Cards, starting out as a paper cutter and finishing his career as a forklift mechanic. He enjoyed racing go carts in the 1960’s – 1970’s, collecting Hot Wheel Cars, and traveling. Survived by his children, Mike Jones and wife Kimberly of Harrisonville, MO, Tina Bigalk and husband Hugh of Tonopah, AZ, Craig Cary and wife Kindra of Harrisonville, MO; sister, Barbara Harbaugh of Independence, MO; sister, Billie Simmons and her husband Neil of Bates City, MO; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Merv is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Cary; parents, Mervin and Helen Cary; sister, DeAnna Pieratt; nephew, Jamie Stapleton. His family will receive friends and family from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. A committal service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memories of Merv and words of comfort for his family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com
