Nevin Dee Place, 82, Hamilton, MO, passed away on November 8, 2022. Nevin moved to Hamilton in 1973 from Independence, MO.
Nevin was born on October 5, 1940, in Independence, MO, to Cuvella F. and Mary M. (Phelps) Place. He graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, in 1958, and also attended Manual Trade School while he was in high school. Nevin was a Union Carpenter and Construction Superintendent. He worked for Burdg Dunham & Associates as well as Total Development Incorporated.
Nevin was a Golden Gloves boxing winner at the age of 17. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hamilton and Polo, MO, Scottish Rite Temple and Ararat Shrine Temple, both of Kansas City, and Hamilton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, following the Chiefs, and he absolutely loved NASCAR.
On March 4, 1961, he married Delores Ann Warmington in Independence. MO. They were high school sweethearts and were married for over 61 years.
Preceding Nevin in death were his parents, wife-Delores in September of 2022, sister-Janice Place, and brother-Darwin Place.
Survivors: 3 children-Julie (David) Rains, Gallatin, MO; Joy (David) Ford, Osborn, MO; and Zachary (Kelly) Place, Sibley, MO; 8 grandchildren-Hattie Rains, Addison Ford (Nick), Riley Rains (Jordan), Hannah Ford, Abbie Ford, Colton Place, Graydee Rains, and Emma Place; 3 great-grandchildren-Lincoln, Amelia and Palmer Rains; Nevin's "baby" and companion-Lilly, his beloved miniature poodle; sister-Donna Littrell, Independence, MO; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, MO.
A joint Celebration of Life Service for Delores and Nevin will be held on November 26, 2022, in the Hamilton United Methodist Church Sanctuary, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
