Bio | Calvin Wayne McGuire, 79, of Mission, KS, passed away on January 23, 2021 in the home, surrounded by his children after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born July 2, 1941, in Independence, MO to Carlyn and Neta McGuire. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 37 years and retired in August 1996. Calvin was an avid gardener, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and watching CNN.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his son Matthew W. McGuire, and a grandson Philip J. Bergman.
He is survived by his children Michelle E. Palmer, Leslie D. Murphy and husband Anthony Gardner, Michael D. McGuire, John D. McGuire and Mondell Hampton; sister Carlene Marble; brother Clyde (Peggy) McGuire; sister Connie (Ed) Roberts; grandsons Jeremy (Jillian) Palmer, Mondell Hampton Jr, and T'Vell Villarreal; granddaughters Emilee Bergman, Taveyana Perez and Tanyana Kellam; great-granddaughters Evelyn and Norah Palmer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held February 13, 2021 at Life Connection Church, 3883 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Independence, MO 64052 at 10:30 a.m. with a Maximum occupancy 80 people. Graveside services will follow at Newcomers Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Masks are mandatory at both facilities.
