CARMEN JO RANDOLPH Carmen Jo Randolph, 73, of Independence, MO died
Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Carmen was born on October 26, 1942 in East St.
Louis, IL to George and Dorothy (Dillon) Foster. Survivors include her
greatest gifts, her two daughters, Jeanne Marie Justus of Independence, Mo
and Jolie Rae Randolph-White and her husband Raymond of London, England.
Survivors also include one sister, Ruth Ellen Kellogg and her husband Paul
of Bloomingdale, MI; two brothers, Joe Foster of Independence, Mo and John
Foster and his wife Marian of Carthage, TX; her step-father, George Faux of
Carthage, TX; many nieces and nephews; and her three cats, Dolly, Elvis and
Johnny Cash. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, George Foster and
Dorothy Faux; one brother, Jarrett Reed Foster; and one niece, Leslie Ruth
Cohen.
Carmen graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, Mo in 1960. She
was the Student Council President and Homecoming Queen. She was also a
cheerleader and played several sports. She loved school and received many
awards for academic excellence.
She had a Bachelor's degree in education from Central Missouri State
University and a Master's degree in education from The University of
Missouri. Her greatest passion was teaching. She taught elementary school
for 33 years at Orrick Elementary in Orrick, Mo. She loved her job, her
students and her fellow teachers. She was a finalist for the NASA Teacher in
Space Program 1985-86.
Her favorite pastime was reading. Her favorite books were those about
history and iconic historical figures. She loved music, especially Elvis,
The Beatles, Johnny Cash and too many others to name.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Orrick Teachers
Association, 100 Kirkham, Orrick, Mo 64077, to assist students with college
education. Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Memorial services will be held
on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in
Richmond, MO. Inurnment will follow services in Richmond Memory Gardens
