Bio | Janet M. Peve, 73, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away April 11, 2015, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born June 22, 1941, to Merton and Grace Hardy in Independence, Mo. Janet was a member of the RLDS church. She was a graduate of Van Horn High School (class of '59), and married her high school sweetheart, Billy Lee Peve on Sept. 22, 1962. Janet held various clerical and bookkeeping positions with Spencer Chemical & KW Dart before becoming a stay at home mom for her children, Brian and Michelle. When Billy was called to heaven in January 1983, Janet continued to focus solely on raising her kids. In addition to her children, the greatest joy of her life was being blessed with five grandchildren. She loved attending their school and sporting events. Janet's interests included reading, clipping recipes, working in her yard and shopping. She was a proud survivor of breast cancer, a person of inspiration, strength, character and selflessness. Janet was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her children, Brian Peve (Jeanne) and Michelle Rush (Tim) of Lee's Summit, Mo.; brother, Charles Hardy of Coldwater, Mich.; sister, Carol Gillmor of Blue Springs; grandchildren, Tucker, McKenzie, Jacob, Brett and Natalie. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, at the chapel. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or Cancer Action of Kansas City.
