Bio | CLAUDE JOSEPH "JOE" BOUCHER JR. Joe, who recently became a member of his extended family at Quail Run Health Care Center, Cameron, MO, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015. Joe was born to Claude Joseph Boucher, Sr. and Nancy (Ferguson) Boucher in Kansas City, MO, on Feb. 2, 1941. He grew up in Fairmount, MO, where he attended the Mount Washington Methodist Church. He was a Boy Scout in Troop 276. It was a proud day for him when he was awarded his Eagle Scout ranking in 1956. Joe attended VanHorn High School, where he was a member of the track team. He also loved attending dances where we're sure he impressed everyone with his moves. (It was Joe, who practiced with his little sisters, who passed on his love of dancing to each of them.) Joe graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1960 and then entered the United States Air Force in 1961 and was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii until his Honorable Medical Discharge in 1963. Throughout his life and his battle with mental illness, Joe showed great courage, displayed a deep faith in God, and loved his parents and family with all of his heart. He was highly intelligent, had an amazing sense of humor, was extremely caring, compassionate and generous. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Nancy Boucher and his baby brother, Michael. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Campbell, Kathy Hoffman (Ken), Jean Weaver (Tom), nine nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at Quail Run who made Joe feel safe and treated Joe with dignity and respect and honored him as a person of value and with a purpose in life, encompassing the entire realm of his inner being. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to NAMI of Kansas City, 406 W. 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111 or Spofford 9700 Grandview Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
