James Dale “Sugar Daddy” Tann, 82, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 13, 1941 to William and Rhetta (Hines) Tann in Independence, MO.
James was a 1959 graduate of Van Horn High School in Independence, MO. On November 11, 1961 James was united in marriage to Lola Ann Dolores Techaira in Independence, MO. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 6 years. James worked as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #2. He was a 32nd Mason and a member of the Mt. Washington Lodge in Independence, MO. James was an Eagle Scout and Scout Master for 13 years; he lived his life by the Scout Oath and Scout Law. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, doing magic tricks, telling jokes to anyone who would listen to make people smile, and traveling. James cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Left to leave his legacy are his loving wife of 61 years, Lola Tann of Blue Springs, MO; sons, Andy Tann and partner Yukiko Hino of Kansas City, KS, John Tann and wife Pamela of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Alec Tann of Independence, MO, Andrew Tann and wife Talynn of Kearney, NE; niece, Cheri Nau of Oak Grove; sister-in-law, Janice Tann; numerous other nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Hess; brother, John Tann.
The family would like to thank everyone at the University of Kanas Health System in the Neurology Landon Center on Aging, Home Instead, and Ascend Hospice Lee’s Summit branch for all of the love and support they have shown throughout their journey.
