Bio | Marcia Sue Russell, a beautiful soul, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021. She was 80 years old. Marcia was born to James and Mary Pippenger on April 1, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Van Horn High School, Marcia married her best friend, Don on December 8, 1960 at the young age of 19. They spent the next 60 years creating a life together. Marcia and Don enjoyed dancing and traveling. As the owners of a real estate company, they were able to treat their employees to yearly vacations in different tropical locations to relax and enjoy their time together. Her favorite getaway was their second home at the lake. It was her happy place and she enjoyed the peace it brought to her and her family. Marcia loved her family fiercely and always looked forward to spending time with them. Holidays were very special to her. Marcia made a point to go above and beyond to make lasting memories for everyone else as well. She has always been a generous, kind and happy person. When she wasn’t working Marcia was proud of her time volunteering as a Jaycee’s wife and taking part in the Jr. Services League. There she would help to raise money for local charities and perform community service acts. Marcia’s infectious smile will be missed greatly by everyone she met. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald “Don” Russell; daughter, Tracy Stegmaier; granddaughter, Krista Aaronson; grandson, Kenton Aaronson; great grandchildren, Isaiah and Sylas Aaronson; nephew, Mike Benson and beloved furry companion, her dog Maggie. Marcia is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, JoAnn Indahl. A visitation is scheduled on Saturday, July 31st from 1-2pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm. Burial will take place at Floral Hills in Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s Mercy in memory of Marcia. |
