Gail was born November 2, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA before moving with her family to Independence at age 9. Gail was a member of the Van Horn High School class of 1959, attended cosmetology school and went to work at SuDora's Hair Salon on the Independence Square. She later opened GaLyn's Hair Salon where she loved both those that worked with her and all the wonderful customers and friends she had over the years. Known to many as Mom or Nanny, Gail especially loved being around children. She was happiest cooking for others, singing, doing hair and spending time with family and friends. She loved and enjoyed her church family, sang in the choir and was often a guest singer in other congregations or at the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. She also enjoyed evenings with friends at the Independence Knife and Fork Club. Most of all, she lived a life that reflected her faith in God, her eternal hope and endless joy. She will also be remembered for the particular strength and courage she possessed and admired for her unconditional love, gentle spirit and remarkable kindness . . .always. Gail was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Gertrude Benson. She is survived by her son Galen Soule, daughter Marcia Grigone and husband Jeff, her brother Frank Benson III and wife Levita and her sister Shirley Ford and husband Ed; additional family, Martha Wood, Connie and Mark Tanner, Jim and Lisa Wood, Mike and Cynthia Wood, Randy and Concetta Waters, 1 niece, 5 nephews, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
