| Bio | Dennis L. May, age 67, passed away April 7, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, Mo. Born Oct. 1, 1941, to Wilbur and Imogene May in Independence, Mo. He attended Mt. Washington and Fairmount Grade School, then Northeast High School for one year and the new Van Horn High School. He worked for the KC Star for one year, went to City Nat'l Bank (now UMB) until 1963 when he went to work at Middle West Freightway. In 1969, he went to work for Kenworth-Dart Truck Co. that closed in 1986. He was in the US Army at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, for one year and then went to MACV Hdqtr in Saigon, Vietnam. After the completion of his military service, he worked for Lennox until his retirement in 1993. Dennis was a member of McCoy Collections Club, Jackson County Historical Society, Friends of the Zoo, Friends of Art, and National Geographic Society. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur May in 1961, sister, Wanda May Holman in 1990, mother, Imogene Patchin in 2008, and his partner of 26 years, Bruce Youngblood in 2006. He leaves his daughter, Juli Muller; two grandsons, Christian and Aaron, and granddaughter, Gabrielle, all of Independence; his brother, Roger May of Kansas City, his niece, Debbie Blankenship and many loving friends and neighbors including Rosalind Scott and Irene Sessa. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at the chapel; burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association (800) 342-2383.
