Bio | Thursday, May 27, 2010 Cassville Democrat William Marcell "Bill" Leach, Jr., 69, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, in his home. He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Independence, the son of William Marcell, Sr. and Louise Ann (Hickey) Leach. On April 27, 1985, in Independence he was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Gale McManamin, who survives. Additional survivors include: one daughter, Christy Kimm, of Independence; one sister, Luann McDowell, and her husband, Roger, of Leawood, Kan.; one brother-in-law, John McManamin and his wife, Judy, of Oak Grove; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a step-daughter, Jackie Mayer, in 2006. He received his education in Independence, graduating from Independence High School. He then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. During the Viet- nam War, he was in the United States Army serving from Oct. 6, 1966, until Oct. 5, 1972. Most of his life was spent as a cattle farmer, and he also grew alfalfa. He was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Central Community United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Teressa Clyde will conduct the services. Burial will be at a later date in Park Lawn South Chapel, Independence. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday in the church.
