Bio | Chester Lee “Chet” Adkins, age 83, of Menasha, passed away on April 24, 2024. Chet was born to the late Marvin and Marie (Ohler) Adkins in Independence, Missouri on February 8, 1941. He married the love of his life, Sandra Ring on June 12, 1960.
Chet enjoyed working on classic cars, traveling the United States and Canada in his motor home, and watching sports. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Chet was an elder for the Community of Christ Church.
Chet is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra; his children: Cliff (Laurie) Adkins, Don Adkins, and Mindy Adkins; grandchildren: Jessie (Ryan) Hermus, Abbie (Trent) Koenigs, Lindsey (Erik) Van Lysal, Zac Adkins and Christine (Chris) Baardsen; great grandchildren: Sophie, Maddux, Beckett, Kaden, Nolan, Brody, Myles, Maverick, Lucy, Sully, Beau, Drew, and Riley; sister Adruth McKenny; and many other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Jerry McKenny.
A memorial service for Chet will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 18, 2024 at Community of Christ Church, 19402 E Holke Road, Independence, MO 64057. Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Chet will be placed to rest at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
