Billy Bernard Ruhling, age 79, lost his battle with cancer on August 28, 2019. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 19, 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO until 2010, after which he resided in Texas. He was a member of Independence Masonic Lodge #76, Ararat Shrine, and a 34-year veteran of Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, G. Sue Ruhling, his son Billy Ruhling II, his daughter Amy Wald and her husband Mark Wald, and three grandchildren, Avery Wald, Isabel Wald and Sophia Wald. His remains will be laid to rest at Mt Washington Cemetery at a private ceremony later this month.
