Jerold Orville "Buzz" Risinger was born May 30th 1940 in Kansas City, MO to Mason Risinger and Helen (Seever) Risinger. Jerry married Nancy (Dufoe) April 17, 1987. Jerry worked in electric supply most of his working life, eventually opening his own eclectic supply wholesale company "Amplex Electric" in Independence, MO. Jerry served in the US. Coast Guard from 1960- 1964 and was stationed in San Diego, CA. Jerry was a huge fan of music as a child he listened to "do-whop" music (as he called it ) on the local radio station. This sparked a life long interest in all music genres. He followed many artists and attended many live shows, one of his favorite genres was The Blues which inspired many trips to the Mississippi Delta for music festivals along the "Blues Trail". His love for music certainly influenced family and friends. He also enjoyed grilling and smoking different kinds of meats, He was always the chef at family gatherings. He entered many b-b-q contest in the Kansas City area such as the American Royal and Jimmy's Jigger. He placed several times including first place for spare ribs. Jerry was also a self taught fly fisherman. During trout seasons of 1993 and 1994 he was able to work as a river keeper along the Beaverhead River in Montana. He was active with fishing groups and attended "Fish - ins" in New York, Michigan and Idaho. His favorite fishing spots were Big Hole Valley in Montana and the San Juan River in New Mexico. Jerry is preceded in death by parents, and a son Darryl A. Risinger. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Risinger, daughter, Carmen (Risinger) Wilson, a brother, James Risinger, two nieces, Julie Risinger and Michelle Niebus, four grandsons, Alex Wilson, Thomas Wilson, James Risinger Matthew Risinger and a great granddaughter, Henley Wilson. |
