Bio     ea Ann (Pennington) Schalk October 25, 1940 - April 21, 2021 Ocean Springs, Mississippi - Lea Ann (Pennington) Schalk October 25, 1940 – April 21, 2021 On Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at age 80, Lea Ann (Pennington) Schalk, wife and loving mother of 7, passed away at her daughters' home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi peacefully with her children by her side. Lea Ann was born on October 25, 1940 in Little Blue Prairie Township (Now Lee Summit), Missouri to Frank James Pennington and Neda (Billings) Pennington. She grew up mostly in Independence, Missouri with a large loving family who also included Richard "Dick" Pennington, Carol Pennington, and Mary Berniece Pennington. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1958. She also attended Warrensburg University (Now CMSU) for a short time. She was admired and loved by many peers. She married Robert G. Schalk of Shawnee, Kansas on Sept 18, 2000. They resided together both in Sun City West, Arizona and Garfield, Arkansas for many years. Lea Ann had a passion for cooking and enjoyed watching cooking shows. She was fond of crocheting, making sure everyone in the family received an afghan that she made. She was an avid music lover and a collector of vinyl records. She also was a football fanatic, and loved her Kansas City Chiefs. She had many stages in life that took her down many different roads which caused abundance struggles, however she always got through them and prevailed. She raised her children to be strong willed and resilient like herself. She led by example, instilling in us an impressive work ethic. She was known for her quick wit; she was to the point and had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Bob of Collinsville, OK and her 7 children, Robyn McCracken of Vancouver, WA., Carrie Lipscomb (Charles) of Manteca, CA., Douglas Reed of Lenexa, KS, Laury Reed of Kansas City, KS., Mary Diane Reed-Klepach (Richard) of Shawnee, KS, Christine Reed-Sepe (John) of Ocean Springs, MS., and Janet Reed-James (Maurice) of Topeka, KS.. Her surviving siblings include Beverly Pace, Chuck Pennington, Sandra O. Dougherty, Sandy Olinger, Shari Rapp, all of Independence, MO. and Frank Pennington Jr., of Grandview, MO.. She was also survived by 20 Grand Children, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren with one on the way. There will be no funeral or services per her wishes.
