Bio | Donna Marie Brumley passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 15, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 21, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Marshall, brother, William/Bill Marshall, and niece, Julie Marshall. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Floyd/Bud Brumley. Lovingly remembered by her two children Rodney (Michelle) Brumley and Allison (David) Edwards, her four grandchildren, Paige Brumley, Lucas Brumley, Emma Edwards, and Ella Edwards.
Donna graduated from Van Horn High school in Independence, Missouri in 1958 where she broke gender barriers playing multiple sports. She attended Kansas State University to earn her bachelor’s degree in 1962. She then earned her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Mayo’s Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Having enough of the cold, she moved to Hawaii where she practiced physical therapy, became an avid surfer, and a competitive Porsche and MG race car driver. After returning to Kansas City, she met her husband of 52 years, Floyd/Bud, in a bowling league. They later married on August 14th, 1971, and raised their two children in Independence, Missouri. She continued to practice physical therapy for 30 years until her retirement. Donna and her husband later moved to Chesterfield, Missouri in 2010 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Donna loved to spend time with her family, playing cards and winning, reading, watching mysteries, and enjoying a good gin and tonic. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor to many. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
As per her wishes, her life will be celebrated privately by family and close friends. |
