Bio     Carolyn K. Roedel, 81, a resident of Independence then Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully on the early morning of November 8, 2022, at St Luke’s Hospice House in KCMO. She was born December 24, 1940, in Independence, MO, to Beatrice and Charles Colovin. Her life and our memories of her will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Mt Zion Restoration Branch Church at 15008 E 35th St independence, MO 64055. A private graveside service will be at a later date per the family’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name and memory to the St Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 Summit St, Kansas City, MO 64111. She is survived by her husband Virgil Roedel; her son Ron Roedel, and grandchild Cody and wife Blair and great grandchild Eleanor, grandchild Mikhail, and grandchild Harley and husband Kalen; her son Richard Roedel and wife Kristi, and grandchildren Brody and Noah; and her son Ryan Roedel and grandchild Braedyn. Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Jim, and her parents. Carolyn was a 1957 graduate of Van Horn High School in Independence, MO. She was united in marriage to Virgil Roedel on April 11, 1964, at Englewood RLDS Church in Independence, MO. She worked for Hallmark Cards (purchasing division) for most of her early adult life. Carolyn was also a member of Sweet Adelines and sang competitively with a traveling chorus. After marriage, she decided to focus on her children and family. Later she chose to drive a school bus for Pace School Bus Transportation in Independence. This allowed her time to always be close to her children, which she loved the most. Above all else, Carolyn, cherished her children and family. She was a devoted mother and wife and made certain that her children understood the true value of family. Carolyn loved to travel, until her health kept her from it, especially to Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island, Michigan to see where her family was from. She leaves behind a legacy of love, and she will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Jerry is a VH Alumni (1960) and will be gifting a Falcon sculpture he created to VH at this time. All school alumni are welcome to attend.
