Bio     Frank Louis Burgess APRIL 8, 1940 – MAY 4, 2023 Frank Louis Burgess, age 83, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Frank L. Burgess, 83, passed away at the Briarwood Nursing Home in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 4, 2023. Frank will be laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by close relatives and family friends attending. Frank was born to Rollie M. and Irene Malinda Burgess on April 8th, 1940, in the Kansas City General Hospital. Frank graduated from Van Horn High School in Kansas City before attending the Kansas City Art Institute and later the Art Center of Los Angeles. His career as an artist included working for Hanna Barbera Studios, Marvel Studios, Exxon and Chevron as well as a private illustrator for various other industries and authors. Frank loved living in the Palm Springs area in California before becoming bedridden from a severe stroke. His sister, Karin McAtee, managed to have him flown to Little Rock in September of this year after 2 years in a California nursing home. Frank was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona during the Viet Nam war where he was a member of the 4441st Combat Crew Training Squad. Frank and other members of the squad drew pictures of airplanes for training purposes as well as illustrating the camp newspaper. He received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal before receiving an honorable discharge on August 30, 1968. Frank is preceded in death by his father, mother, and younger brother, Tommy. Frank is survived by this loving sister, Karin, and his nephews, James Haldeman and Eric Haldeman as well as several cousins and nieces. Frank will be sorely missed by his sister, her husband, Bob, and the staff at Briarwood Nursing Home. Frank suffered a stroke two years ago and had moved to a nursing home in Little Rock to be close to his sister Karin (VH '60)... where he eventually passed. Back to my California this Jan 15th, 2015 at my 75the Birth Year! Selling Digital (computer generated art for print to canvas T-Shirts, Children's Books and or papers.) art created on my Apple Mac! Sorry Mrs Jenkins my old VH Art Teacher,,,,, I hate to touch actual painting materials now and beside THAT, I don't need a large studio to work in! It's a dream-of-a-digital age NOW!

Jerry is a VH Alumni (1960) and will be gifting a Falcon sculpture he created to VH at this time. All school alumni are welcome to attend.
