| Bio | Vincent Lee Christianson, 75 of Pittsburg died at 1:17 a.m. Thursday January 30, 2014 at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Facility in Fort Scott, KS.
He was born August 23, 1938 in Fair Oaks, CA the son of Alfred and Pearl (Penny) Christianson. He grew up in California and North Dakota before moving to Missouri. He graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he remained for ten years and earning the rank of E6 Radioman First Class. Following his time in the military Vincent returned to Kansas City, MO and worked for many years for Western Union. He moved to Pittsburg in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters Rebecca Hatanaka of Maryland, Rachel Bowers of Gaithersburg, MD; a brother Richard Christianson of Atlanta, GA and a sister Kerry Burns of Portland OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother HD (Dean) McCormick of Seattle, WA.
According to Vincent's wishes he has been taken for cremation. Inurnment and memorial graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, KS with Reverend Kenton Van officiating. Because of weather conditions and distances, a family memorial service will also be held at a later date.
