Bio     Randall Louis Stockwood, age 82, of Independence, passed away peacefully Monday, July 26, 2021 at Wilshire at Lakewood. Memorial service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel. Randy was born November 23, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Robert “Bud” and Lorayne M. Stockwood. He was a member of the Army Reserves, where he served in the Tank division for 9 years….often filling in as a cook. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts and was a longtime member of the NRA. On June 1, 1963 he married Marilyn Treben, and after 35 years, their union ended in 1998. He worked at General Motors for 30 years and after an early retirement, he put his love for metal detecting into opening his own business, “Ozark Treasure Chest” from his home. He also helped create a metal detecting club with the same name, with his best friend, Gordon. After years of running his in-home business, he started a lawn mowing service which he continued for several years until finally deciding to relax. Around 1999, Randy moved to Florida, and eventually settled in Arizona, where he resided until November of 2020, when he bravely faced the pandemic and moved back home to Missouri. Randy enjoyed hunting and being outdoors…camping, fishing, panning for gold in Arizona, where he was a proud member of RoadRunner Prospectors’ Club, Inc. He was also content just sitting on his porch watching the planes go by. He was true man of Faith, he read the Bible 3 times and his favorite passage was Psalm 91. He is survived by his daughter, Tricia Stockwood of Independence; son Jeff Stockwood and wife Leonor of Leawood, along with two amazing granddaughters, Sofia Stockwood and Bella Stockwood. “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.” ~Psalm 91:14 Randy was a member of Van Horn’s 1957 class, he served as The Chess Club sergeant at Arms, and football manager.
