Bio     Ed S. Guffey, 66, of Independence passed away January 5, 2006 peacefully at home. A celebration of life will be held at Blue Springs Country Club, January 12 from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a generous donation to Kansas City Hospice or the gift of life by signing the back of your driver's license. A lifelong resident of Independence, Ed was born September 11, 1939 to Floyd and Zeta Guffey. He was an eagle scout, tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated VanHorn High School in 1957 and attended CMSU on a theatrical scholarship. Ed was active in the AHRA (American Hot Rod Association) from 1968 to 1971. For a period of time he managed the Kansas City International Raceway and was a race and car enthusiast all of his life. A carpenter by trade, Ed owned a construction company in the Kansas City area for 25 years. Ed is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by Danna, his wife of 23 years. He is also survived by daughter Lori of Independence, a number of grandchildren and many relatives and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. (Arr; Heartland Cremation).
