Patricia Ann Terhune Hankins, a cherished resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on May 11, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on December 8, 1938, and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. Patricia's life was one of compassion, continual growth, and dedication to her family and community. Patricia is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy James, who was a constant source of joy and pride in her life. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Gayle Dyer, Karl Nerman, Tyler James, Felix Steele, Melissa Freeman, and Madison Shultz. Patricia's spirit will live on through her three great-granddaughters, whose lives she touched with her warmth and wisdom. Throughout her life, Patricia demonstrated a remarkable commitment to her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Rodney Hankins, who preceded her in death. Together, they created a nurturing and loving home that fostered deep connections and cherished memories. Patricia's strength carried her through difficult times, including the loss of her son, John Nerman, daughter Sandy Steele and grandson Ryan Nerman. She faced these losses with grace, courage, and the unwavering support of her loved ones. Patricia's career as a retired Postal Worker was a testament to her dedication and work ethic. She served her community with pride and diligence. Patricia's colleagues and the people she served remember her for her reliability, kindness, and commitment to service. Patricia was a lifelong learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She never turned down an opportunity to better herself, constantly seeking personal growth and expanding her horizons. Her love for education inspired those around her to pursue their own dreams and never stop learning. Above all, Patricia was a consistent rock in the lives of her family and friends. Her unwavering presence brought comfort, stability, and reassurance during life's inevitable changes. She was a source of strength, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear. Patricia's genuine smile brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to know her, and her acts of kindness were felt by many. As we mourn the loss of Patricia Ann Hankins, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the enduring impact she had on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her boundless love, compassion, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace. A gathering of family and friends will be 1-2PM, Thursday, May 25 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. Her sister Judith Terhune Greer was in the 58 Van Horn class.
