Bio | ICHARD JULIAN Richard Crane (Dick) Julian of Blue Springs, MO, passed away at the age of 85 at Watsonville Post Acute Center, Santa Cruz, CA, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Dick was a handyman that could fix anything. He was friendly and kind to everyone he met, always giving a wave and a warm smile. He considered himself a very lucky guy and often expressed that he lived a great life. Very active with the Boy Scouts of America, Dick enjoyed the outdoors. He often went on canoe trips, camping, or turkey hunting and when it was time to put his feet up, he enjoyed a good movie - his favorite, Casablanca. Dick was a very generous and positive person. He spent many years doing volunteer work and was especially active in supporting the Rainbow Center in Blue Springs, MO and could even be found washing dishes at the American Legion Post 499. When diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he volunteered for, and and was selected to participate in, a clinical study in search for a cure. He was ever optimistic - to the end. A veteran of the Armed Forces, Dick served in the U.S. Navy, and he will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Dick is survived by his wife, Evelyn, 2 sons (Alex & Kurtis), 3 grandchildren, 3 step-children (Suzanne, Drew, and Brent), 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren.
